JOB DESCRIPTION
Budtenders are the people that give our patients all the knowledge they need to consume cannabis safely, they are the first and foremost, patient educators. A budtender is responsible for providing compassionate and exceptional customer service to patients. Duties can include welcoming patients and verifying their identification prior to taking orders, and processing payments. As a budtender, you may recommend and select strains and product types for patients depending on their needs. Clearly communicate the difference between product types and strains.
Provide an explanation of their effects and different delivery methods to patients all while adhering to HIPAA guidelines. Must maintain a clean and organized work area. Inventory of new products to also be unpacked, labeled, and stocked. We are seeking an individual that understands and loves Cannabis. Must be able to educate and assist guests in compliance with all New Mexico State Regulatory Guidelines.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and welcome patients as they arrive.
- Must be able to handle a fast paced environment
- Adhere to the Erin & Lynn Compassionate Act, HIPAA and any other acts, statues or policies currently provisioned.
- Very active position which requires standing for long periods of time.
- Maintain dispensary safety and security by following safety procedures and protocols.
- Checking customers' identification documents to verify that they are of legal age.
- Update patient information as needed.
- May create new patient files / scan and save id, state issued id, med card, registration packets and educational packets.
- Processing customers’ payments using the dispensary’s Point of Sale (POS) system.
- Continuously enhance your knowledge of cannabis and current regulations.
- Keeping abreast of new cannabis products on the market as well as the latest industry trends through trade shows and research.
- Back-up front desk by answering, screening and forwarding incoming phone calls.
- May call patients to advise them of orders ready for pick up/ check if they are still picking up products.
- Advise callers of all strains and THC/CBD levels for daily sales on the sales floor.
- Educating customers on the safe use of their selected cannabis products.
- Advise patients on how to obtain a New Mexico Medical Marijuana Card and provide appropriate forms.
- Correctly weighing, packaging, and labeling cannabis products as required.
- Taking inventory and restocking sales floor area, replenishing products.
- Assist patients with general questions and products.
- Ensuring that the dispensary is clean and well-organized at all times.
- Assist teammates as needed.

EDUCATION & TRAINING
- High school diploma preferred
- Cannabis Establishment Technician Certified
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 1-2 years of previous cannabis budtending experience
- 1-2 years of retail sales/cash handling/point of sales (POS) experience
- 1-2 years of customer service
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Prior retail, cash register or dispensary-related experience a plus, knowledge of BioTrack/Dutchie (POS) a plus.
- Must be friendly, upbeat, trustworthy, dependable, positive, hard-working and excellent with customers.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Will work Nights and Weekends.
HOURS / SHIFTS
- Full time hours 35-40 hours
- 8-10 day/evening/weekend shifts
- Must have open availability and reliable transportation.
